Our Classes

Mommy and Me

Ages walking-3

These two separate age group classes are all about fun! Parents have the opportunity to spend 30 minutes with their toddler exploring movement and rhythm in a social atmosphere. These classes are very energetic and rely on parental participation to inspire our blossoming dancers.

Level 1 Ballet

Ages 3.5 to 6

Students are introduced to music and movement in Level 1. The emphasis in this course is rhythm, dynamics, placement, and balance. Students will move forward with an understanding of first and second position, ballet runs, spatial awareness, correct alignment, teamwork, basic coordination, and focus. Students in this level will attend one 45 minute class per week. Multiple times are available for these classes to fit most schedules. All dancers must be potty-trained and taught at home how to independently undress and redress for restroom procedures.

Level 2 Ballet

Ages 5 to 7

Level 2 dancers begin learning basic conceptions of classical ballet. Curriculum consists of positions of the feet and body, stability, and basic ballet steps including turns. Students learn to create formations and to dance simultaneously with one another. Dancers at this level are expected to take one 1 hour class each week. All dancers must be potty-trained and taught at home how to independently undress and redress for restroom procedures.

Level 3 Ballet

Ages 6-9

Dancers learn connecting and axillary movements, and jumps in Level 3. Students learn all of the basics of classical ballet technique and steps. Dancers in this class are expected to attend two 1 hour classes each week.

Trainees

Ages 9 to 12 Pre-Pointe

Dancers begin to find their artistry and how to project their expressions and feelings through movement. Trainees enter the studio knowing all basics of ballet technique and steps. This level emphasizes dynamics, timing, and texture of movement. The steps become more challenging with the adding of beats and number of turn rotations. Dancers will begin to understand how the same steps can be performed with different attitudes, styles, and levels of flair. Training includes strengthening the ankles and feet in preparation for pointe shoes. Dancers are expected to attend three 1 hour classes each week and are welcome to join the Pointe/Pre-Pointe class each week.

Apprentice Company

Ages 9 to 14 Pointe

Technique and strength in pointe shoes is achieved at this level. Transitioning from ballet slippers to pointe shoes requires a completely different understanding of ballet technique and steps. It is similar to learning a new language. Dancers are expected to show a level of maturity and muscle development that is required to prevent injury on pointe shoes and are welcome to join the Pointe/Pre-Pointe class each week. Apprentice dancers work closely with the Company dancers in combined levels classes and rehearsals on Saturdays. Dancers are expected to attend three 75 minute classes each week and 1 hour rehearsals on Saturday. Saturday class is required before rehearsals.

Company

Ages 12 to 18 Pointe

At this Pre-Professional level, Company dancers have the capacity to perform steps on pointe with ease and freedom of expression. All of their hard work is combined to form complete classical ballet dancers who are able to emotionally act and artistically flourish as individuals. Dancers are expected to attend four 75 minute (1.25 hours) classes each week and 1 hour rehearsals on Saturday. Company members are also welcome to join the Pointe/Pre-Pointe class each week.

Adult Classes

Ages 19 and up

These classes are for the ballet dancer who wishes they still had a studio to call home. We will work lovingly with our bodies to maintain and encourage a healthy relationship with ballet. With the choice between high impact and low impact movement, this class is a wonderful opportunity for any adult in the area to reclaim their love of ballet or to try it for the first time.

Private Classes

All ages

Private classes are offered to dancers who would benefit from having one-on-one instruction. Dancers are given individual attention and gain an understanding of their bodies in relation to ballet form. Especially helpful in preparing for auditions and performances, these classes are intense and an excellent way to progress in ballet technique and artistry.

$60/hour

$40/half hour

Level ages are approximate and dancers will be assessed upon registration for placement in appropriate levels at the discretion of the instructor. Dancers may spend less than, or more than one year in the same level and will be notified by the instructor when they have graduated to the next.
